HIS LAST MESSAGE. BV TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSN., COPYRIGHT. ■LONDON, May 23. “The Times’’ ouhlkdics the late Mr .Massey's Umpire Day message, the revision of which was one of hi- last official acts. He says: "1 wish, on this Umpire Day, to reaffirm New Zealand's enduring Empire faith and steadfast resolve to do its utmost to strengthen the foundations of liberty and right on which it rests. During the past year we were gratified to observe the uniforming influence of the exhibition. which contributed materially to Umpire progress, hv increasing Britain's empire knowledge. I hope the interest thus awakened will lie maintained. and the fraternal unity of the British people so intensified that statesmen and leaders will be encouraged to persevere in seeking a solution of the practical problems confronting them. We ale united by a faith in British tradition, and in the great purpose of strengthening the Umpire, enabling it to become more and more a power for petite and goodwill thrughont the world. By perseverance and patience we shall assuredly attain full measure of accord as regards the methods of advancing that aim.
