A meeting of re; rc.scntatives of West, (oast Racing and Trotting Clubs was at Greyuumlh ytstcniay afternoon to consider a scheme for a circuit of racing and trotting dates at Christmas

Mr Porrolti indicated that the Reefion Club did not approve of the scheme. The Club understood that the Grey trots v. ere to l'..lloiv the Reef ton races. The , matter was discussed lor an hour from various standpoints. the opinion being expressed that the Reefton Jockey Club was in the same po sit ion as in previous years, and the effect from the changes proposed would lie for the betterment ol the Club’s ini -rests. Mr IVrotti made suggestions that tlio Greymouth Jockey Club should drop tlio third day. and that the Grey trots should follow the Reelton races. Tlio representatives of the Clubs affected did not think the proposals would be acceptable to their Clubs. Messrs Fagan and McGregor indicated that their trotting Clubs were disposed to give the scheme a trial, and thought the meeting should he unanimous on the matter.

It. was indicated by the Chairman that the Tnangaliua Trotting Club for December .'lib ami the Westland Trotting Club for January 2. might apply for those dates without further delay, and the Grey Chlh would arrange its racing dates to avoid clashing. The Chairman further suggested that if there was doubt in the mind of the members of the Reefton Jockey Club that the trotting events on the programme would not Ik- a success lieeause of the change round, the Clubs should write in a guarantee against loss, hut Mr IVrotti while thanking Mr Coates for the kind offer said the Reefton Club could not accept the assistance, though the spirit in which it was preferred was auprecin ted.

The meeting then closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
