Batson. telegraph me-M-irmr. when oil his wav homo all'-r work. II- 10-1 no tin',,- in ringing the Central lifebelt, and the Eire Brigade were soon on the scene. The outbreak was located in a rear o.rnt-r of the shop, adjacent to th-- rislit-o'-way. having apparently s»tai-t 1 from :> gas ring, i-n a table, used for pressing, a- the tlames travelled from the table up the hack wall io the roof. No doors having been opened, however, it did not get much of a hold, and in a short time the firemen had it extinguished, without very much damage resulting. The stock, largely laxtic-s wear, must liaxx* been damaged hv smoke and possibly also to a slight extent hy water. The wind va3 in the right direction to piext-n* the dames spreading, and with the alarm given in time, the save xxas a good one. The insurances were not ascertflinnble.
