'resting di--:nverie.. have been made iii a remarkably line limestone cave which "as recently opened at To l’ahu by a resident ol I’irongiu in Id quarry. At the mouth of the cave an almost complete skeleton of a large nma was unearthed. Parts of the skeleton were ill perfect order, while others were ocatlord as if they had at some time been disturbed. The Lanes included the upper and lower main hones ol Loth legs, a complete series of hone.s for one foot, several rills alu’f ■.-mailer lames. The hone.s of the neck and the major part of the skull were missing, t'nderneath the moa bones were a number of smaller birds' bones about the size of these of a kiwi. The hones, which were found in a mixture of clay and limestone, are in places coaled with lime deposit, and in some instances several of them are cemented together in grotesque angles. The hind in the vicinity appears to he rich in fossils, as a barbed dart, such as i-, found in the tail of the 'stingray, was also discovered cm bedded in a piece of limestone found near the place where tlm skeleton was iiuearihed.
