RETURNED SOLDIERS’ EUCHRE ASSEMBLY.

There was a good attendance at Hie euchre assembly at the Soldier-’ Hall l:i-i evening. Ton games of progressive euchre were played and the result proved, to ho as follows:—Ladies’ prizes. Miss Turner, lirst; Mi-s It. Eggling. second. after tiring with .Mrs Bell. (tr ol leiimo’: prize- .Mr Rub’lts first. Mr .1. .1. Breeze see I alter tiring with Mr .Mclntyre. Those at the lucky table were: Mrs Hell. .Mi-s Morgan. Messrs T. Lynch and McIntyre. All seoring cards were rollcrled. ami will count in the aggregate for tho special prize of a dinner set, to be decided over four nights’ play. Tlie competition "ill be continued next Thursday.

After cards, supper was served, and a dance followed, at wliieh Mr Goodfellow at Hie piano supplied llie music, and Mr Sunnier was M.C. The evening was a very pleasant one. Last, night, the new entrance and additional rooms now being completed were used and much appreciated. The new additions to the Soldiers’ Hall include a ladie-’ cloak room. 15 x 10, a gentlemen's cloak room 10 x 12. and a (Tub room IS by 10. In the completed structure there is a larger club-room provided, and the mom now used temporarily will then, be the library and writing room. In addition there is a side cut ranee adjacent to the Rubin; Building, and the entrance is well lit. The rear annexe is to lie used as a gentlemen's smoking mom when socials are held, l'or large public dances it may be used for a refreshment huff.d.. and tho present annexe. usually requisitioned for that purpose could he used for dancing or as a lounge. Fire escape doors are to be placed on the side of the main hall for emergency exit. The hall as. now arranged is well suited for its. purpose and will 1)0 a source of revenue, towards the general maintenance of the Soldiers’ Cluh. A special effort is to lie made during this month to raise the balance of the fund- required, so that the ball and club-room will stand clear of debt for the ltouefit ot the Bet limed Soldiers’ Association.
