AMERICAN TOURISTS FOR N.Z. AUCKLAND. April 22. The Cmiard liner Carinthia, which is due in AYellington on the morning of December 21th, 1025. via Pacific ports, with a large number of tourists, will he engaged on the largest and most, comprehensive tourist trip ever undertaken. The Carinthia is to sail front New 5 ork on October litth, though passengers may join at Los Angeles on October 25th, and at San Francisco on October 2ith. The ship is a new 20,000-ton Cunarder. and is the latest addition to the fleet. She is especially suited tor cruising in warm latitudes, having con spicuously 1 1 road decks and a swimming pool. The vessel is an oil-huinei. has a length of 62-1 ft. and a width of 7:t'.lt. She is stated to he. generally, equipped luxuriously, and among other things the appointments include garden lounges, printing office, beaut) shop, and laundry. Finally, tlie C'arinthia lias been described as “a home of infinite charm ami conveuiomt*.’ The total duration oi the cruise i rum New York and hack will he MR days, ami the total mileage will he something over 33.0011 miles. The itinerary includes 21 count lies and colonies, among them New Guinea. New Zealand, and Australia, which have never before ligured in a similar emise. The itinerary ports and cities visited will number I", of which at least 10 figure on no other cruise route. Between 30 and 10 shore excursions by automobile, carriage, rickshaw, special train and boat are. included in the cruise price. On arrival of the Carinthia at Cherbourg, in France, on March Ist. 1020. there will be a variety of European extension
tours. The Carinthia arrives at Auckland on December 21st. and passengers will have the option of remaining here or proceeding overland'to Wellington via Rotorua atul the Wanganui river. Hie Carinthia is scheduled to sail Horn Auckland at midnight on December 22nd for Wellington, where she should arrive on the morning of December 21th. Site will leave the same day for Sydney. Hobart, Melbourne, and Fremantle. From there she will journey to Java. Straits Settlements, Ceylon. Bombay, Cairo, Naples, Monte Carlo. Gibraltar. Cherbourg and Southampton, and finally New York.
