The 'election <if il’rofiident of the Chamber aroused anger against tho Government resulting in several minutes r.'f fisfiouifs between deputies. Firstly members of tbe. opposition abstained from voting su there was an insufficient quorum secured for M. Harriott’s election. During the vote Bulan at (Opposition) took up a position during the voting, alleging several deputies bad voted twice in tlm first division. The majority angrily dissented and when Balanat laughed scornfully a Socialist, rushed up and intervened but another Socialist climbed tile desks and bit Balanat on tbe face. This was the signal for a general fight. Deputies rushed in hitting out furiously. One threw Balanat headlong downstairs, a surging mob of deputies" meanwhile swaying in every direction, the President’s chair being upset. Tt was several minutes before order was restored and the election of M. Horriott completed.
