Air AY. All Quarrie, member for New Westminster, in British Columbia, referring in the Canadian House of Commons during the budget debate, to a visit which lie recently paid to Australia, stated that lie had found much propaganda in Australia against Canadian trade. The Australians were being told that Canada prefers to do business with the l liitctl States.
Air AlcQuarrie said: “AYo did what we could t) offset this view; hut I am afraid that the Australians a:e beginning to think that there is something in it, because of the action ot this Government in delaying the bringing of a tariff treaty into operation. I cannot understand why this Gotcinnieiit is acting in such an uncalled for manner. An agreement, apparently was entered into, hut we have not been able to get the particulars of it in this House. The Australians are beginning to wonder what lias happened to it. So are the people ot Canada. Tt is rumoured that the Californian fruit interests are opposed to this treaty which is also objected to by the Progressive Party.
