The sports meeting which took place at Ross on Tuesday was a spenldid success. The morning train brought in a large number of visitors which no doubt would have been much larger had it not been for the epidemic restrictions. The weather was pet led and the various events were Well contested. some very close finishes being recorded, reileding good judgment on. behalf of the hamlieapper. The refreshment booth, in charge of -Mrs Evans (Mayoress) was much appreciated, and did good business.
The various officials carried out their duties well ami the events were got off propmtly. The ball which took place in the evening was largely attended and proved j,, he a very successful fttndion. The Misses Evans supplied the music, and Mr Morel and -Mr Follows tided as M U.’s. A very enjoyable supper was provided by the ladies committee. In the Sheet' Guessing, dead dressed weight, 11. Gardiner and V> • lnglis, guessed the correct weight (33.)1b5). There were 110 guesses ranging from 2!) to Ifilbs.
