ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. MUTTON RISES. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.). CHRISTCHURCH, April 0.
Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows rcgaiding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday:
Store Sheep.—A eomparitively small yarding, the quality generally being very mixed and comprised many oddments and washings-uj) of previous big lines offered. Considering the quality the sale must he considered a good one, although it was very irregular. Forward lambs and any* good wethers, as well as the liest classes of young ewes were firm, but inferior or lots with no warmntv were irregular and easier generally. Forward lambs made 24s Gd to 28s. medium 21s Gd to 245, others down to lGs, best three-quarter bred ewe lambs 2Gs to 345, extra to -L s Gd, 4. G and 8 teeth, three-quarter bred ewes 28s Gd to 34s Oil, S.M. ditto 26s to 31s, F.M. ditto 21s to 25s Gd. low conditioned and inferior down to 14s
Gel, best wethers 30s to 33s Id, others 2Gs to 20s Gd.
Store Cattle.—A very small yarding and practically no quotable lines were offered. One small line of 3 and I year steers made t'3 15s to £5 10s.
Fat Pigs.—A medium entry of porkers. The sale throughout was slightly easier than last week’s rates, but anything showing quality sold readily. Values were: bight porkers £2 12s to £3. heavy £3 5s to £3 10s, average Tpl to Bd. There was a good yarding of haconcrs and all lots wore keenly competed for at prices slightly easier than last week's rates, bight haveners made £3 15s to £4 ss, heavy £4 10s to Co, extra heavy to £5 10-s, average o:sd to 71d; choppers £3 10s to £<• Store Pigs.—A small entry came forward and the market was ou a par with last week’s rates, except weaners which, being in short supply, increased in price. Weaners made lls to 18s Gd, small stores 23s to 28s, medium 30s to 38s, large to 565, sows in pig up to £3
Peel'.—A medium yarding of about 100 head. The quality was generally very indifferent and the sale was most irregular. The market opened firm, but towards the .middle of the sale with the exodus of butchers to the trots things slackened, hut at the c-ud of the stile the market made a decided improvement and on the whole was bettor than last week. Prime steers made £l3 15s to £l6 Gs, extra to £lB 12s Gd, medium Cl] to Cl 7 10s, others down to £5 ss, prime heifers £8 to £lO 17s 6d. extra to £l3 13s Gd. others down to C l 10s, prime cows C 7 5s to L'9 10s, extra to £l3 7s Gd, medium £5 5s to C 7. Others down to C2 15s. .Mutton.—A smaller yarding and the market opened firm at last week’s rates and improved as the sale progressed, showing an average rise of Is to 2s per head. Hives again comprised the hulk of the entry. Prime wethers made 3f)s to 13s. extra to 17s. medium. 35s to 38s Gd. oihers down to 335. A few small uv.-i-ionths made as low as 255, prime ewes 32s Gd to 38s, extra to 12s. medium 27s Gd in 31s. lighter and inferior down to 21s. Fxporters were operating keenly. Lambs.-—The smallest yarding this season and with the exception of two consignments of outstanding quality, the entry was a very poor one. The hulk of the entry should have been in (he store pens.
