WESTLAND RACING CLUB
AUTUMN .MEETING
The autumn meeting of the Westland 1 Dating Club took place yesterday under ' unfavourable conditions. Haiti had fallen during the night and the morning was showery, these conditions eontinning throughout the afternoon, the atmosphere being also cold. The weather affected the attendance very considerably there being a very small number present from the-north and country districts. There were goodfields. but the course was on the heavy side for tho racing events, while the trotting track cut up badly. The racing was interesting and tho finishes were good. The starting of Mr ButInnd was excellent, that for the High Weight Handicap being a particularly (rood one. The small attendance affected the totalisator turnover, which amounted to £0,26-1 as against £-3,821 last year when the railway strike drastically affected the meeting and £BOI3 in the autumn of 1923. The various officials were at their posts and the general arrangements of the meeting passed off in the usual satisfactory manner. The .Municipal Hand was present under Conductor C.
