ALLEGID BURGLARS

THREE ARRESTS MADE. WELLINGTON, April 12. The shrill blast c f a policeman’s whistle created considerable excitement early on Friday morning, when three suspe,ted burglars were being hotly along the city streets. Always on the look-out for excitement, an eager crowd joined in the chase, hut got ahead of one of the fugitives and kept running in the wrong direction. All three, weio arrested, and it was a surprised crowd that turned around to find that C fun had been missed. In the early hours of the morning when Constable Beadle, was on duty in Lamhton Quay, lie found that the door of Jays' Limited, ladies’ outfitters, had been prized opened. Flashing His torch into the shop lie found that there wrs nohedy within, and so made a search outside. A short distance away lie saw three men who were talking about “going mi hoard,” He Hailed them, hut the trio immediately took flight. men were arrested. While the chase was in progress a number of revellers were attracted by the whistle. AY hen the fugitive was arrested the crowd hud to turn round, and by that time two of trie suspected men were at the Central Police Station.
