Following representations to the Minister of Alines when in South Westland lately, the Mines Department is making a grant of £o() towards the improvement of the tracks in the vicinity of Gillespie’s Beach, including the Galway track.

The timber production for Westland for the past finamial year, it is understood, shows a considerable advance on the previous record.
