AMUNDSEN’S FLIGHT
AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION AM U XDSEN’S FAR EWELL. LONDON, April 10. Captain Amundsen has left Tromsoe on his Arctic venture. Cheering crowds fare welled the expedition at Tromsoe. There was mild, calm weather. Tho two flying boats were chained to the ship Hobby's docks. The Riserlarsen has taken a black eat, and the Duvrichseii a monkey as mascots. Both carry silk Norwegian Hags, made by the men’s wives to he planted at the North l’ole.
Amundsen in a iarewell speech to the crowd, said:—“Myself and my comrades cannot promise to reach the ]>ole, hut we will do our best.” ’Hie Hobby is steering a westerly course to avoid the ice.
