Medical practitioners are puzzled at an outbreak of a mild form of sleeping sickness. So far no deaths have occurred. DETECTIVES ON TRIAL. MELBOURNE. April 5. The four detectives (charged with corrupt practices) alter a Departmental inquiry were charged and have been committed for trial on 3 charges of conspiracy, theft of £1(100 and with demanding by menaces £5500 irnm Terence Callaghan, licensee of the Londonderry Hotel at Collingwood. The case is causing unprecedented interest. The Crown Prosecutor, in outlining the case, said that it was alleged, that during Callaghan's alienee from the Hotel a man called and 101 l certain articles which .Miss Callaghan paiil £lO for.
