W.O.T.r. CONVENTION. MI'NED IN. March 31. The W.C.T.E. Convention was eontinned to-day. The afternoon was devilled to an undress by the president. Mrs W. R. Don, who gave an informal account of the jubilee celebration of the W.C.T.E.. part of which she had attended, in the United States. The speaker described how these gatherings hid been carried on for live years.
The convention held a special session in the evening to hear an address on caninaign plans by Mr ('. 1!. Edmond. from Wellington, representing the New Zealand Alliance.

It is not often that a Royal Mail steamer is stopped in mid-ocean to supply fresh milk for a sick child, hut that is what happened to the Maknr.i which arrived in Auckland from. \ aneonver yesterday. The incident occurred on March 23, when the Makura was passing Hull Island, in the Phauix Croup, ahmi' 3110 miles smith of the Equator. A canoe from the island, containing a white man and two natives, was observed near the Makura’s course, ami the occupants of the canoe sigiialle I the steamer to stop.
