Frederick Peter Mount, lo years ol age. is at present hold on a charge that; on or about February 20, IH-o, at St. Marlins, lie killed one Nellie Mount, thereby committing murder. Blh'ii (Nellie) Louisa Mount was the ivife of the accused, and she has been missing from her home at St. Martins since ihe date mentioned in the charge. Mount appeared before Air \\ yvern Wilson. S.M., on March l'O. and Mas represented hv Air W. J. Sim, and remanded till the 13th. On that date Mi- a. J. Donnelly. Crown Prosecutor, appeared lor the prosecution, and All ('. S. Thomas, with him Mr AV. J. Sim, for the accused, who was lurtlier remanded I ill the 25th and on that date further remanded fill April Ist. When Alouat was before the Court last ’Wednesday, Mr Donnelly staled that it would take a fortnight or three weeks to complete the case. A I Hither remand for a week will, it is understood, he asked fo rto-morrow. and the probabilities are that Air Donnelly will lie able to indicate that the Crown will lie ready fo go on when the case is called on April 3th. Owing to the peculiar circumstances surrounding Airs Alouat s disnppoai-am-e. the collection of evidence lias been a matter of no little difficulty, hut it is said that a good deal will be submitted on April Bth. Of necessity much detail will require to he gone into, and it is not thought likely that the hearing will he completed in one day. Already certain evidence, that of Afrs Alouat’s brother, Air -T. B. Aferrett. who is at present on a visit to Australia, was taken when Alouat was before the Court on the 18th inst.
