A party of Borough Councillors is visiting the water supply works today at Kanieri Forks, where the Borough staff is putting in a pipe-line for a supplementary service to the town wtiter supply. It is understood instructions will he given to complete the works with Lite greatest despatch. Jt is expected the auxiliary service will he available this week.

The Westland Racing Club will hold its autumn meeting on Master Wednesday, 15th. inst. From the preparations being made the meeting should be very successful. .Mn tries u'.o-se next Tuesday night, and the handicaps are due on Faster .Monday. The sale of lights in connection with the meeting will take place at noon on Wednesday next at the Princess Theatre. Visitors to the course over the week end remarked how well the course and appointments are looking for the meeting. Over a store of horses are now in training locally for the rates.
On Saturday next a further effort is to he made to raise funds for the ITS.A. building to add to the utility of the Soldiers' Hall in .Sewell Street. J l:e occasion is to he a Flower Day. and the ladies committee will he glad of all possible help witli gifts, also the assistance of young ladies in t..i sale of flowers etc. Gifts of fruit, vegetables, cookery* etc., will be welcomed specially also. It i.s hoped to make the Day an outstanding success in the present effort, and with tli assistance of the townspeople and country friends, the desire should attained.
Electors who remove from one house to another within one particular electorate must notify the change of address to the Registrar in the same manner as if they changed the electorate in which they reside. Another impjortant point in connection with the new regulations is that where an elector is to he temporarily absent from his home for a period of more than three months the Registrar should he notified of such temporary absence to avoid the possibility of the elector’s name being struck off the roll. Forms for both sorts of notification may he had at any post office.

Yesterday afternoon a young child, 2.'. years of age, daughter of Air Robt. Orr, Hampden St., had a very narrow escape from drowning. Owing to tne shortage of water, a supply for domestic purposes had been stored in a tub in the yard. By some means the young child gut into the tub, overbalancing and lulling ill head down. Another young child saw the position and reported to the mother, who rushed to the scene and rescued the child from her predicament.. Vigorous action had to l;o resorted to 1o restore the child to animation. It was indeed a verv narrow escape.
