W.C.T.U. CONVENTION. DUNEDIN, March 30. The chief business of the "W.C.T.U. Convention this morning was consideration of the report of the White Ribbon, the official organ. It was stated the paper had been enlarged, and Hie financial- position and circulation improved. Mr Perryman was reappointed editor and business manager, and .Mrs Vudon associate editor. It was decided to recommend to Parliament the advisability of establishing public hoards of management in connection with mental hospitals. MAORI CURIOS. DUNEDIN, .March 2S. The family of the late Mr Alexander Thomson have handed over to the Otago Museum a priceless collection of .Maori and other ettrios, the chief of which is a huge 1110 a egg. There is only one other complete mott egg in New Zealand, which is also in the Otago Museum. A third is said to exist in a private collection in England. Other articles include spears from Australia. New Guinea, the Solomons, and New Hebrides, a Japanese sword of exquisite temper, pineapple clubs and bamboo pillories from. Fiji, Maori ailxes. whose sv'.e and perfection make them the gems of the collection and a "Maori mat, which has a distinguished history, being owned by Kereope, the murderer of the Rev. Volkner at Opotiki. The Maori section includes 3.3 stone implements.
