HOUSTON AND CO’S REPORT.
Messrs M. Houston and Co report: The usual autumn sale of cattle and sheep was held at W'ataroa sale yards yesterday and was a most successful one, there being a very large attendance of buyers from all parts of thj district. The entry of cattle from tin far south came forward in excellent | condition, some very nice lines of bill-j locks and fat heifers being yarded and these were keenly competed for by butchers and graziers. Compared wit 1 the corresponding sale held last year, prices realised showed a rise of 30s to €2 per head all round, which goes to show that graziers have every confidence in the prospects ahead. There was a large yarding of sheep, mostVy wether hoggets and these met with a good sale. Our entry consisted of 233 sheep and 140 head of cattle and were sold as follows: On account of Messrs Gibb Bros: 56 wethers at 3ls, !) ewes at 30s, 2 f.m. ranis at 2.V guineas; on account of Win Smith, 53 breeding ewes at 31s Od, 42 wethers at 32s Gd ; on account of Jas. .Mcßride, 22 wethers at 355, 3 owes at 3's; on account of R. Adamson, 62 wethers at 33s Gd; on account of AY R. Adamson 20 wethers at 30s; on account of A. 11. Eggling and Sons 10 steers at €8 17s Gil, 7 heifers at £6 ss; on account of A. l'Toveldt 2 bullocks at €3 .is. 7 at €7. 5 cows at €(!, 7 at €5 17s (Id, !) heifers at €6, 11 at €6 7s Gd, I cow at €5 15; on account of .McPherson Bros I cows at €6. 1 bullock at €7. 1 cow at €5 15s, on account of jno Mcßride 3 bullocks at .€lO 2s (id^ 7at €7 10s, Bat €7 f2s Od, 9at €0 f7s Gd ; on account of Nolan Bros, 10 bullocks at €9. 11 at €3 12s (id, 8 fat heifers at €8; on account of.A. Cowan bullocks at £8 15s, 7 at €0 12s Od, 1 cow at €1 2s (id; on account of a client 2 heifers and 4 steers at £3.
