The exhibition was greatly enjoyed by the audience, the applause being frequent and free, and the whole entertainment a very pleasing memory.

Dr Moore reporting to the Grey Hospital Hoard in regard to the establishment of a laboratory at (Ireymouth stated:—“l understand that Dr Pearson has expressed bis approval of establishing ii laboratory on the Coast and has expressed the opinion that the sending across of specimens is in many Ways 'u s': less, espeejilly from, towns, outside Oreyinoulh. The Department, however, demanded that this be done. If the Westland Board refuses to agree aiul stated that a laboratory in Greymouth was not necessary and that Christchurch was good enough, it would be interesting to ask them to explain if possible, their reasons, il any. The judgment of an expert such as Dr Pearson, and the opinion of the individual member of the medical profession south of Grey mouth, should be enough. As finance, was such an urgent matter, would the Hoard consider asking the Public Health Department to run the laboratory and lo pnv for it by an anual levy on the West Coast Hospital Boards. This would overcome the difficult obstacle of one board refusing to join in, as if the laboratory were established specimens from Hokitika would ultimately come here. It is not right that the prot.cr safeguarding of the public health should he held up iu this manner by one local body.
