The result of the test was considered somewhat disappointing in view of the showing made against the visitors in other matches. There is no question that the team for Victoria showed to advantage in all departments, except bowling. It- was recognised that the visitors had the best position all along, /and in the tost match hy far their host- display. Woodfull was the hero of the match. Tie gave a faultless and exhilarating display. Willis had a. short, but merry tilin’ at the wickets. Hartkopf also displayed more aggressiveness. New Zealand fielded much hotter than on the first occasion. Alloo and Dempster were picked out as the best, and woii trophies for toe best fielders. Meßetli. Dickinson and Alloo howled well.
