On a charge of not having his trust actount audited, a fine of CIOO, with costs .013 13s, was imposed on Henry .Edward Eliott, solicitor, of Opitiki at the Magistrate’s Court. Security for appeal was fixed at .020.

The dispute over the discharge of a sugar cargo from the steamer Rona is unsettled. The vessel was again idle to-day. A cai! was (made this morning lor about two hundred men to discharge tho Rona. and stack the sugar in the store. Only thirty responded. An attempt to work the ship was abandoned. The Union officials state the men are willing to work if two men concerned are employed. The stevedore will not comply with the demand. It is doubtful bow tbe matter will lie settled.

TRAM FARES REDUCED. AUCKLAND, Alarcli 23. A new scale of fares and concession tickets, adopted by the City Council for the tramways is to take effect on April 6. The present cash fares of twopence, threepence, and fourpence, for the first second and third sections remain in force but tbe fourth, fifth, and sixth section cash fares are all reduced to fourpence irrespective of distance. Concession tickets have been reduced as follows:—First section, reduced to twopence; second section, one penny; third section, three-pence: fourth section, sixpence; fifth section, two and threepence. That is to say for tbe fourth, fifth and sixth sections a twelve trip concession ticket costs three shillings and threepence, irrespective of distance. A BOY DROAvivKD.
