TRAIN PLUNGES INTO RIVER. CAPETOWN, March 22,

The Esteemrt-Cape Natal Express plunged into a river beyond Hartshill last night. The engine and a third class coach were wrecked. The driver, firemen and several natives perished, while wreckage was entangled ill tho girders of the bridge. Other coaches were saved by the couplings breaking, one coach being suspended over the river. The accident, which is attributed to a cloud burst sweeping away the bridge after the passenger train had crossed, follows a series of Hoods in Natal in which places between Durban and Zululand suffered considerably.
