“THE MAN ALONE.” TO-NIGHT! TO-NIGHT! Absolutely the finest picture ill he shown in Hokitika this evening at McLean’s Pictures. Hobart Boswoitli is starred in this 8-act picture drama entitled “The Alan Alone” and is supported by a strong cast. The glorious sea- (scenes, the lobby of the famous l’alace Hotel at San Francisco, the stoke-hold of a notorious “hellship,” the fight between the ship’s officers and the crew and Boswortli thrusting his bare hands into the fire box of the ship’s boilers are just a few of the thrills you will witness. The story of inc famous drama is as follows:—Ben Dixon, owner of the famous Dixon gold mine, falls in love with the daughter ol a stock speculator. He follows her to San Francisco where he i.s shanghaied by order of Temple, a rival. Dixon i.s taken to sea on a tramp steamer, at temps to quell a mutiny, and is bound and placed in the stokehold. As the dew is battling with the ship’s officers Dixon burns a"av the ropes that bind him with a long bar, heated red. He makes his way on deck and helps the loyal part of the crew to maintain order. For this good deed lie i.s sent, back to San Francisco, where lie arrives just as his gold mine and other properties are being sold by Temple. When he finds that the gill has fallen in love with his secretary lie gives her up and i cturns to his Nevada home. A strong supporting programme consisting of a Comedy, Gazette, Bathe News and Cartoon will also he shown. McLean s Supreme Orchestra will render the incidental music and last hut not least usual prices will prevail.
MASTER PICTURES. ‘TIOAIKAYARD BOUND”—TO-NIGHT A Story of the sea, packed with drama and every scene having a distinct thrill of its own, Thomas ALeiglian’s latest Paramount picture “Homeward Bound,” Irom the story, “ Ihe Light to Leeward,” by Peter B. Kyne, and superablv directed by Ralph luce, will bo the feature at the Westland Opera. House on Friday. Lila Lee, beautiful and popular, plays opposite the star. In this captivating photoplay Air Meighan is seen as Jim Bedford a sailor who saves a ship Irom foundering after Captain Svenson, the cowardly skipper, quits the bridge and gives un the struggle. \\ hen the ship roaches port, Svenson i.s given an o\ ation and Rufus Brent, the owner, unaware of the facts, makes him skipper cjf his yacht, whieh Brent aims to present to his daughter Mary. Bedford, who loves Alary, refuses to permit Svenson to command the yacht and thus imperil Mary’s life. A\ hen the yacht is about to sail. Bedford forces Svenson off tlic vessel and himself takes command. Brent threatens to have Bedford arrested for piracy and after a severe time aboard Brent lakes the yacht hack to port. He then lakes command of mi unsea worthy schooner and before sailing, quietly mjarries Alary. Events follow in quick succession, and all of whieh combine. to make the picture tremendously interesting and appealing.
