MCLEAN'S PICTURES.
IRENE CASTLES—TUESDAY. On Tuesday evening McLean's Pictures will present a magnificent 6act picture drama entitled “Slim Shoulders ” starring glorious Irene Castles—America’s best dressed picture actress The story is as follows: Naomi Warren was the apple of her father’s eye, and she thought equally much of her daddy as she called him. She enjoyed life as made possible to a girl surrounded with luxury and no thought of trouble entered her mind, though, unknown to her, her father was in financial straits and a note of his was due to Jerome Langdou, a selfmade upstart, whom people in decent society regarded as a menace, to his utter cligrin and annoyance, for no matter how he tried lie could not force his way into select homes or • clubs. Meanwhile Langdou is removed from her path, death claiming him through the medium of a motor accident, but slie adheres to her original decision regarding securing the note, and in company with the burglar enters Langdon's home, hut is surprised in the midst of operations by Richard Latigdon, nephew of the dead man, who falls in love with the gill at first sight, and believing her a crook asks her to reform and later meets her and takes her to dinner, hut when at liis home with him she endeavours to drug him whilst awaiting the arrival of her burglar partner, which attempt is, however, noticed by Richard and later when Naomi admits the burglar to the library, Richard is apparently asleeep in the chair, whilst the safe is opened by the mail Naomi secures the forged note. A strugglt ensues between the burglar and Langdou, the former escaping, and Langdou then dismisses Naomi as faithless, hut she determines to tell everything, which she does simultaneously with the arrival of her father, Richard taking the note, and the whole complications are straightened out with Naomi in Langdon’s arms. A strong supporting programme including a comedy, gazette, topical budget, cartoon, Selznick News will he screened. Usual prices will prevail.
MASTER PICTURES. “THE TRUTHFUL LIAR-” TUESDAY. Master Pictures present at the Opera House on Tuesday next, “The Truthful Liar,” starring Wanda' IHawjley. This popular star lias appeared in quite a number of really successful play, hut never has she had a part that has been more in keeping with her charm, and ability than the role of the erring wife in “ The Truthful Liar.” She makes use of every dramatic opportunity in the story, which is an absorbing one o? a wife who wanted to see the froth of life, while her rich husband was away on business, and the scrape she got into. Then she told lies to cover her trial and was this a just proposition. She was eager to taste the froth of life. So, while her rich husband buried himself in his business, .she Rollicked along Broadway with another man. Till one night —a shot—the police—blackmailers on her trail—what should she do to prove her innocence. Was her lie justified? You’ll see the answer and enjoy thrill and thrill in this powerful drama of modern youth’s follies find courage. The picture has all the points that will make an audience delighted with the entertainment. There arc the players and the star, the story and the direction, with tho right kind of thrills and situations and mystery to make it exciting. A splendid supporting programme is also included while Ronetti’s orchestra will provide an attractive accompaniment.
