England collapsed badly in the return match against South Australia. There was line weather, the wicket and outfield being perfect. There was an attendance of seven thousand. With few exceptions, the hatting was colourless and unexciting. Gilligan omitted Douglas, and South Australia dropped Wain Wright. England won the toss and hatted, the start being sensational. Wlivsall was dismissed I.h.w. with the second hall i f Palmer’s first over. Grimmeti then sensationally dismissed I learnt* with his first hall. Woolley indulged in wild hitting, getting himself out. Hendreii batted attractively, and Tate slogged, bitting Grinimelt to the stand, making eighteen in six minutes. Snmlhant batted tlnoughout the innings. taking 208 minutes tn make fiftynine.
