The “ Daily Telegraph’s” Paris correspondent states that after a prolonged conference, M. Herriott and the Party leaders decided to instruct M. Briand to support the Geneva Protocol in preferiice to any of the pacts recently suggested. Probably M. Briand will indicate France is willing to accept modifications to the Protocol to lie valueless without Britain and the Dominions’ adhesion.
Tho “ Daily Telegraph’s” diplomatic correspondent points out that the League Council can neither kill nor save the Protocol. It can only prolong the agony, it says, by obtaining a posttill tlie Lgaguc Assembly meets in September.
