CHRISTCHURCH, March 11

Willie Spencer the champion American evelist. made his final appearance at the English Park Stadium to-night in an invitation scratch race of three .events—quarter mile, ha if mile and mile. He won the first two from W. I.e a them and J. Henderson, riding brilliantly. and in view of these .successes the mile was' not staged.

In the exhibition mile, paced by a motor cyclist, he covered the distance in 1.4 a. A two mile scratch race resulted: Spencer 1. H. J. Carey 2, A. Leathern 3. Won by half a length. Time—--4.14 4-3. In contrast to Saturday night Spencer was enthusiastically received bv the crowd.
