WORK OF ALLOCATION. AYELI.LNCTOX, .March 10. Recently Sir Geo. Chffnnl. Presfilent of the Racing ContereMcc, wrote the Hon. Air Bollard, saying that ho was surprised that Air Bollard should imply that lie (Sir Geo. Clifford) hail had some share in the framing of the .Minister's edict re the totalisator permits. As Air Bollard well knew he (Sir Geo. Clifford) did not confer with Him thereon, and Air Bollard's report to the Cabinet was in no sense the joint work- of Air Bollard and the Racing Conference. The .Minister has replied that he regrets that some misapprehension has arisen. He says that he asked Sir G. Clifford to met him. hut the illness of Sir G. Clifford had prevented that. A meeting took place with the secretary of the Racing Conference. Later he received a letter signed by Sii G. Clifford, being a list of the Lacing Clubs recommended by the Dates ( <>mmittee of the Conference to he allotted days of racing and totalisator licenses provided for in the 1824 Act, and he had assumed that these were recommendations of the Conference. Later he (Mr Bollard) had met the Chairman of the Dates Committee and the secretary of the Conference. With seven of the conferences’ twelve recommendations. lie agreed. AYitlr four he disagreed.'ami with one he did not think it could he said there was an absolute disagreement. The Minister maintains that the intention of Parliament "as curried out.

Kitchener, ALP., asking him to urge the A!mister of Internal Affairs to loan the Club for one season, one of the totalisator permits which had been authorised recently, hut are not in use by any ( hih. The deputation stated that six or seven tote permits were unused this season. and the loan of a permit would ensure a successful inaugural meeting for the Club.
