The State iMincrti’ Union are holding a stop work meeting to-day to discuss action towards those undertaking cooperative contracts in the James and limns sections. The meeting was not largely attended, as the Rcwanui men worked as usual, notwithstanding the Union’s decision to call the coal ohtained “black”. A party of co-opera-tive miners resumed work to-day at James’ mine. The department is awaiting to-day’s union meeting's decision before taking action. M.OKE TROUBLE AT LYTTELTON. The shipping companies were surprised at Lyttelton last evening hy a recurrence of trouble through the men refusing to work overtime on the funic, Tairoa” Ngakuta and . Trebartlia. No
reason was given. When an attempt was made this morning to engage labour to take the lines of the Alatoopo which had a New York cargo to discharge there was no labour offering unless the employers paid the men as from S a.lll. the same trouble occurred in connection with the Canadian Challenger, hut Inter the men accepted work on the Matoppo. .
