HILL CLIAIBIM. TRIALS. Quite a. number of people gathered to witness the hill climbing tests conducted by the lot-til .Motor Cycle Club on the Rimu Hill last Sunday afternoon. The grade and nature of the hill make it ideal for such purposes, hut although there was ample inducement not many entries were forthcoming. The starting was in the hands of AH- C. Harrison, who. iu the absence of Air D. Stevenson, also arranged the handicaps, while several stewards assisted in keeping the road clear. By means of signals, flagmen at both the top and the bottom of the bill wore able to notify the starter as to approaching traffic, the competitors being held up if necessary, until the road was reported -‘all clear.” Thus tho ordinary traffic was in no way inconvenienced. The latest time, for the climbing ol the hill itself from a standing start was -11 1-5 secs. The Club proposes to hold further tests at an early date.
