Jack Dempsey, the heavyweight boxing champion, must accept or decline the challenge filed by Harry Wills, the negro, within twenty-four hours, or take his place among those on the black list in this State, is the ultimatum of the State Athletic Commission. LOS ANGELES, March 7.
In reply to New York State Athletic Commission’s ultimatum, Jack Kearns, Dempsey’s manager, declared that the champion and himself are not interested in what the New York Commission does, unless it is interested in such a contest as a promoter, ami, if so. they are prepared to consider it with other offers. Kearns said that he was leaving New York soon to negotiate possible title bouts. in the meantime. Dempsey remains here training. SYDNEY. March 8.
