MCLEAN'S PICTURES. “THE. STEAD EAST HEART” TO-NP’HT! A magnificent picture drama will lie screened this evening at Ale. Loan's Pictures. Here is staged the story of a mountain boy branded as a criminal. Jerry Devine plays Angus Burke in “The Steadfast Heart” and first attracted attention for his remarkable performance as the black sheep in that famous picture “Over the Dill.” Angus Burke, as a boy of ten, is facing life under a terrible handicap. His father is a thief, his mother a wretched invalid ,and he is on trial for the death of the sheriff of the county whom he bad killed blindly without knowing, to protect his worthless mother. In all the little town of Rainbow, A’irginia, Angus has three friends—the minister, the minister’s daughter and Dave AA'ilkins, the local editor. The rest of the people of Rainbow demand that he pay the penalty for the death of the sheriff. Soon after, Dave Wilkins sends Aligns away to school for the purpose of getting him out of town where he is branded as it social outcast. He advises him never to return. Eight years later, however, Dave Iteeomes seriously ill, and Lydia, now grown to young womanhood, sends a message to Angus to hurry hack and save the property of his benefactor from the plottings of Alai Crane—the same villain who had tried to convict Angus of the sherill’s slaying. On his return, lie is attacked by Crane’s hirelings, anil another light is staged in the printer’s shop in which Angus is victorious. Alai Crane’s son is in lovo with Lydia and she feels that she must marry him on account of social standing, though she really loves Angus. Angus now decides to stay in Rainbow and manages to get a job in the. local hank. The older Crane is mixed up in a. crooked oil deal and is on the verge of leaving town with the money which the people have invested, when Angus discovers what lie is up to and follows Crane. Crane realizes that lie is lieing followed. The two cars race and Crane goes to his death over a cliff. A two-reel Comedy, Gazette and Serial will support this great star. AleLoan’s Orchestra will play the incidental music. Saturday: Ruby do Reiner in “Luxury.”
