A magnificent picture drama will tie screened on Friday evening at McLean’s Pictures, Here is staged the story of a mountain boy branded as a criminal, deny Devine plays Angus Burke in “The Steadfast Heart” and first attracted attention for his remarkable. performance as the black sheep In that famous picture “Over the Hill.” Angus Burke, as a boy of ten. is facing life under a -terrible handicap. His father is a thief, his mother a wretched invalid .and he is on trial for the death of the- sheriff of the county whom he had killed blindly without knowing, to protect his worthless mother. Til all the littlo town of Rainbow, Virginia, Angus lias three friends—-tlie minister, the minister’s daughter and Dave Wilkins, tlie local editor. Tlie rest of tlie people of Rainbow demand that he pay tlie penalty for tlie death of the sheriff. Soon after. Dave Wilkins sends Angus away to school for the purpose of getting him out of town where he is branded as a. social outcast. He advises him never to return. Eight years later, however, Dave becomes seriously ill, and Lydia, now grown to young womanhood, sends a message to Angus to hurry hack and save tlie property of his benefactor from tho plottings of Mai Crane—tlie same villain who had tried to convict Aligns of the sheriff’s slaying. On his return, he is attacked by Crane’s hirelings, and another fight is staged in the‘printer’s shop in which Angus is victorious. Alai Crane’s son is in love with Lydia and she feels that she must marry him on account of social standing, though she really loves Angus. Angus now decides to stay in Rainbow and manages to get a job in the local bank. The older Crane is mixed up in a> crooked oil deal and is on the verge of leaving town with the money which the people have invested, when Angus discovers wiiat he is up to and follows Crane. Crane realizes that he is being followed. The two cars race and Crane goes to his death over a cliff. A two-reel Comedy, Gazette and Serial will support this great star. McLean’s Orchestra will play the incidental music. Saturday: Ruhv de Remor in “Luxury.” MASTER PICTURES. FRIDAY—-A DICK BRADY.
