FIRE BRIGADES’ CONFERENCE.
CHRISTCHURCH, March 4. The forty-sixth annual conference of the United Eire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand was concluded yesterday at the Chief City Eire Station, Superintendent A. Morrison illawera) presided. I' ircman Ross (Dunedin) extended an invitation from Dunedin for the next ((inference and demonstration to hi held in Dunedin in IP”:!. Secretary Watts moved:—“l hat the invitation he accepted, subject to the Associaton receiving the usual privileges.” He thought that was the host way out; the Executive would help all they could.—This was agreed to.
Captain W. CL Carson (Lyttelton) suggested the setting up of a select committee to give interpretations of competition conditions.
Secretary Watts said that it was hoped that the next programme would lie drawn up in Mich a manner that there would he no occasion lor any brigade to ask for information. The Executive would consider Captain (.arson’s suggestion.
The president, on behall ol the Association, congratulated Captain T. lingo, Inspector of Eire Brigades, upon his election as a member of the Incorporated Institute of Eire Engineers of Great Britain.

Superintendent C. C. Warner (C hrist church i. being the only person nominated. was duly elected president. There were sixteen persons nominated for the two vice-presidents required. Sub-Inspector Deere (Greymoiith) was given permission Vo withdraw his lamination. On the second ballot. Superintendent A. (Jarett ( I luimes) and Superintendent I . Anderson (Rotorua! were elected vi( (‘-presidents. Secretary C. A. Osborne ■Onehunga') was re-elected treasurer; and Mr R. R. Eraser was reappointed auditor. The retiring president. Superintendent A. Morrison (Unworn), was elected an honorary life-member of the Association. A number ol votes ol thunks, including thanks to tho Government for privileges extended in connexion with the conference, were agreed to. The conference closed with the singing of a verse of the National Anthem.
