Installation work is already in progress at the branch exchanges in Dunedin, and a start is being made on the central exchange equipment at Upper Dowling street. The installation of the automatic exchange equipment for Christchurch city anil suburbs will commence within a few weeks. The greater part of the material i.s already on hand. Additional facilities are being pro-

vided for the rapidly-increasing demand for toll talk between Tiinaru and Christchurch, Tiinaru and Dunedin, Dunedin and Christchurch, Ashburton and Christchurch. Dunedin and Gore, and Dunedin and Invercargill. The following is a list of new works authorised in Canterbury: Kcarrangenicnt of circuits between Christchurch and Dunedin. New metallic circuit between Ashburton and Tiinaru. New metallic circuit between Timaru and Fairlie. New metallic circuit. Hinds-Ealing-i Geraldine.
