At the Aiagsitralo’s Court, Greymouth yesterday, Walter Henry Alulroy was charged with various offences. The young limn was lint, quite responsible for his actions, said Detective Sergeant Young, in outlining the ease. On the SUh. inst.. his mother gave him the sum of £1 and her hank hook, with instructions that h<> should pay tae money into her account. Accused paid the sum of £3 into the hank, retaining the hook and the sum of Cl. AYheu his mother asked him for the hook, he stated' that the ollieials had kept it, as it had tu he sent on to Wellington to he altered. On February 14th. he drew the sum of C2 out of the hank, followed by another sum of a similar amount two flays later, ami a further £7 on the following day. Accused then commenced a drinking limit with a number of friends. On the night of the 17th. I'ehrnary. lie entered tile house of Airs Elizabeth Guard, an old lady of 0; years of age. hurled a vile epithet at Per. and committed upon her an aggravated assault. Mrs Goal'll screamed assistance. Accused was later found in the garage of Kennedy Bros., when it was discovered that he had damaged live motor ears. Air llanan for the defence. entered a plea that his client was irresponsible. Accused pleaded gitillv to iiil the charges, and was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on the charge of aggravated assault, one month for wilfully flamaging the motor ears, and was convicted on the charges of theft, and with being found without lawful excuse on the garage premises. The monthly meeting of the Hokitika school Committee was held last evening at 7 o’clock. Present —Messrs Gnndlellow. Ilaseler. Dull'. Richards. Wells, Redder. Conning :see.) and Rev. Jack (ihairiiuni). The minutes of the previous mooting were read and run tinned and outward ron'espondonre approved. Inward correspondence was refill and received. From Air O’Brien stating sir James Parr would he in Hokitika on Saturday night and would receive deputations. From Titos. Irvine. tendering resignation as Rector anil thanking Commmittee for past support. From Aliss Aiaytte tendering Iter resignation. From Fduoalion Hoard supplying fivo new blackboards. Air Jack favoured it deputation to toe .Minister. Air Richards moved that same consist of .Messrs Wells, .lack. Richards and Conning. Seconded liv Mr Dull' and carried. Air Redder moved that children tin to 11 years ol age li<> given free dental service. Seconded liv Air Conning and carried. Air Redder moved that a request he made for a technical school. Seconded by Air Wells and carried.. Air Puli' moved that the secretary arrange for the drainage of the school grounds, for the amount given by the Board. Seconded hv Al.r Redder and carried.
