ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. LARGE YARDINGS. (By Telegraph Special to uuardiaa). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regaiding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store Sheep—-About 30,(MU) were yarded, the majority being ewes, including mostly 'North Island consignments. There was also a larger proportion of ewes and wethers than lately. The majority of the North Island ewes comprised good lines of two tooths from stations in Poverty Bay, hut many of the older ewes forwarded were hardly up to the standard of previous consignments. The market opened very slack and passings were frequent, but as the sale progressed the market improved considerably and many of the lots passed earlier in the sale were subsequently sold although on a lower basis than last week. Lambs were par to a shade easier, hut wethers were easier all round. Considering the large entry and last weeks’ nor-west, weather the Sale must he considered a good one and a fair clearance was made. Forward lambs made 28s Cd to ft

The sale did not finish till seven o'clock. Reef —530 head acre yarded and tolloning on the f.evious large entries were 100 many for butchers’ requirements; consequently the market again was easier except for prime finished handy weights. Heavy and inferior hoof was neglected. Consignments were yarded from North Island and (he West Coast. Prime steers made £ll to £ls, extra to £lB, medium 111. Ills to £l3 Ins. others down to £5 10s. prime heifers £8 os, to £lO, extra to £ll I Os, others down £5 Ins, prime cows £7 os to £lO. extra £ll 12s Gd, medium cl Ins to £i, others down to £2 10s..

Store Cattle.- A medium entry and again mostly of con's and nondescript lots. One or two pens of steers xvere offered, hut none xvere sold at auction, the demand seeming to he very dull. Other prices xvere unchanged.

Fat Pigs—A large entry came forward. Porkers were easier by -Is to 5s a head. Bat-oners sold well at late rates. Values: Light porkers 48s to 545, heavy 58s to G7s; average 7d to 7>d ; light hecouers £3 15s to £4, heavy £ | 5s to £-1 15s. extra heavy to £5 ss, ax-erage Gd to 7,jd. Store pigs—Quite a good entry came forward. Weaners sold in advance of late rates, whilst small stores, medium and large, sold at late rates. Values were : Small weaners 20s to 2-ls. better sorts 25s to 28s, extra to 31s, small stores 33s to 425. medium -Ms to 18s, large to 565, sows in pig £4 7s Gd to £5 7s.

Mutton—The largest- yarding for some considerable. time, a larger pioportion cf wethers than lately, which included .several lines of excellent quality. Owing to the very large yarding and also the large entry of beef there was an over supply for butchers’ requirements; consequently, the maiket xvas somewhat easier all round and piic-es xvere firm at freezing buyers’ scheduled rates and exporters showed a large part of the entry. The market shoxved an average drop of Is to Is Gd, a. head on the last xveek’s rate. Prime Wethers made 39s Gd to 42s Gd, extia to 47s Id. medium 3Gs to 395, others down to 335. prime ewes 32s Gd to 375, extra to 42s Id. medium 27s Gd to 325. others down to 235. Lambs—A very small yarding and the quality, with few exceptions was very indifferent. Any good qnalii lambs, also lighter sorts which would kill second quality, sold well at an advance oil last sale; hut interior or doubtful sorts were easier and graziers xvere not so keen.
