One thousand bandsmen have nssem Lied here for* the New Zealand Championship Band Contest, oeupymg sixdays. The visitors were officially welcomed at the Town Hall at noon by tlie Deputj'-Afayor, Air Baildon. The Competition results so far arc a.s follows: B. Flat Baritone Solo—H. Driver (Wellington ALT.) 95 points, Ist; C. Smith (South Canterbury) 93J points,

FI. Flat CoO-iiot Solo—AY. Frances (Wanganui B.) 77 points 1. D. G. Taylor (.South Canterbury) 74 points, 2; Bradeock (Malvern Tramway) (it) points, 3. The Dominion Band Contest opened iTi glorious weather, with a record attendance of bandsmen' from ali parts of the Dominion. , The Malvern Tramways Band from Melbourne, was singled out lor a specially warm welcome. The results are :
