[Reuters Telegrams.j DEFENCE AND DISARMAMENT LONDON, Feb. 38: In the House of Commons, replying to Commander Ken worthy, Hon XV. C. Rridgeman (First l.ord of the Admiralty) stated that work had been recommenced on the proposed new naval dockyard and base at Singapore. In legat’d to the sum expected to he spent in this connection during tho financial year 1925-26, lie asked Kenworthy wait until the Naval Estimates were before the House. Commander Kenworthy also asked for information respecting the new Disarmament Conference, to he summoned hv the President of the United States to discuss further limitations in naval armaments, and whether His Majesty's Government intended to make any proposals for such a Conference. - Mon Mr Austin Chamberlain (Foreign Secretary) replied that the matter was formally mentioned in conversation with tiie American Ambassador, and was at present being considered.

M,- H. J. Barnes (Labour Member of East Ham), previously moved its' rejection, objecting to the expenditure of money to establish another \ested interest in the people’s food supply, and advocated State ownership, hut the motion was not pressed to a division.
