ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. LARGE YARDING STORE SHEEP. LAMBS DECLINE. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Alessrs H. Matson and Co., report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday: Store -Sheep—A tremendous yarding of store sheep, the sale not concluding till 7 p.iii. The entry comprised mostly North Island ewes as well as consignments from Southland, the Chatham Islands and the West Coast. The market, except for the best young ewes and forward wethers, was a good deal easier, hut considering the large yarding the sale must he considered a good one, an excellent clearance being recorded. Forward lambs made 28s Gd to 345, medium 25s to 28s. smaller 21s (id to 24s Gd, culls down to lGs lOd, best 2-tooth Romney cross ewes 12s Cd, medium 35s to 395, -1, 6, and 8 tooth 39> 9d to Its Cd. others 3Js to 395. best le al half bred up to 48s K.AL cross-bred ewes 38s Gd to 34s Gd, older and good conditioned 25s to 28s, rape ewes 19s Gd to 2-ls Gd, best forward wethers 33s Gd to 375, medium 29s to 335, others to 255. Store cattle—A medium entry and as usual was mostly of non-descript lots and old cows. One pen of very decent 2 year old Hereford steers made £5 IC.s. No other quotable lines were vsmlod Y.nd the market was unchanged.
Fat pigs—A good entry came forward, both of porkers and baconers, these selling freely at late rates. Values were: Light porkers £2 10s to £2 15s, heavy £2 17s 6d to £'3 13s, average price 7Jd to Bjd; light baeoners £3 10s to £4 ss, heavy £4 10s to £4 15s, extra to £5 ss, average 6d to 7d.
.Store pigs—A medium entry. lYoanors eased considerably. Medium and large stores sold well. Values were: Small weaners 10s to 21s 6d, best sorts to 265, small stores 28s to 335, medium 3os to 38s, large 50s t 0595, sows in pig to £4 10s. Beef.—A very heavy yarding comprising 550 head as compared with 450 last week. The entry comprised a large proportion of cows and the quality generally was very mixed. The yarding ineduded two consignments from the North Island as veil as some from Southland. The yarding was too heavy for butchers’ requirements and the sale, although very irregular, showed an average decline of 20s to 25s per head on last week. Prime steers made £l4 10s to £l6 17-s Gd. extra to £lB 15s, medium £l2 to £l4 ss, others £0 10s to £ll 15s, prime heifers £8 10s to £ll, extra to £l3, medium and lighter £G to £8 ss, prime cows £8 10s to £lO 10s, extra to £l2 17s (3d, medium £5 5s to £7. ethers down to £3.
Mutton—A much larger yarding and a larger proportion of ewes than usual. The entry comprised quite a number of Cliathams Island sheep which had landed fa good condition and sold well. Owing to the freezing buyers’ limits having been reduced by Jd per lb tbe market was somewhat easier, hut the exporters operated freely up to reduced limits. The market showed an average drop of Is Gd to 2s per head. Prime wethers made 40s to 44s Gd, extra to 48s, medium 375, to 39s Gd, others to 335, prime ewes 34s to 38s, extra to 41s Gd, medium 30s to 33s 6d, others - down to 245. Fat lambs—A very small yarding, and this included several "West Coast consignments. The market in face of Home reports showed a decline of about Is Gd to 2s on last week’s rates. The. quality, however, was very indifferent.
