A SAD TRAGEDY. CHI? ISTC HUHCII, Feb. 17. A double drowning tragedy tcuk plac-e in the estuary at Sunnier to-day, the victims being Clarence George Hubert, aged 27 ,a taxi driver, who resided at 2 Eamfield St.. AYoo'lston. and bis son, Stanley Hubert, aged 5. At 9 a.in. father and son left hone for KedelifTs where they entered a dinghy owned by 11 id erf's brother and proceeded out into the estuary to hfdi. AY hat eventually happened is not known, but it is surmised that, when hauling up the anchor, preparatory to returning home, the craft capsized. Shortly before 2 p.m. the body of the boy was found floating in shallow water near Cave Rock, Sumner, it vas recovered immediately and efforts were made to restore animation, but wdlmut success. The body was not identified till late to-night, when Mrs Hubert, alarmed at the prolonged absence of her husband and son, proceeded to the seaside to make enquiries about them. On being informed that the body had been taken from the sea, she viewed it and ihits was made, aware of the tragedy. A dingy was recovered to-night near Shag Rock, floating bottom up. but the body of Hubert lias not yet been found. Mrs Hubert is left with a baby i me weeks old.
