SHIPPING DISPUTES
AUSTRALIAN AND N.a. CAUL* ASSOCIATION WATERS! DERS AT LYTTELTON. CHRISTCHURCH, February 16. The Rotorua, which arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday, has not as yet succeeded in engaging any labour to load her meat cargo. The port is very busy and, as labour is scarce, that available has taken its choice of flu: jobs offering and hits left the meat loading alone. If labour is’ not sec ured to-morrow morning, the Rotorua will proceed to Wellington without lifting the meat which she lias come to pick up. CHRISTCHURCH, February 16.
The men engaged in trimming coal on the Kawatiri, at Lyttelton tire demanding payment above twopence extra an hour allowed for handling Newcastle coal. The dispute has been referred to the National Disputes Committee at Wellington.
THE MOERAKI. DUNEDIN, February 16
in regard to tlie Moeraki, due here to-morrow, a prominent official of the AVatersiders’. Union said to-day: 11 So far as my Union are coneerned, work will he proceeded with on the waterfront in the usual way. The question of the discharging of the Moeraki has not been considered by our Executive, and the vessel is at present no more to the Union than any ijther ship.”
