West Coast Famers’ Lime Producing Co, Ltd.
DIRECTORS’ MEETING. A meeting of Directors of the above Company was held at ltoss on Saturday, Feb. 1-fi.h. Present: Messrs \V. •). Butler (Chairman). .John Fitzgerald. John Minchun. Jas Thomson. !’• Ryder and J. .1. Mclntosh. A considerable amount of routine business was transacted. Directors evincing a keen interest m the financial position and when the lime sales for the past six months were examined all were highly delighted at the large outpul. The output has been considerably augmented since the installation ol the carbonate chainhc'r, and in spite of the d:y weather since New Year, we hope before the end of March to nearly double the sales ol lime, over the ] re-v-ions year. \\ e owe an apology to our numerous clients since New 1 ear, as owing to the shortage of waier, wo were unable to deliver goods up to time. We are always sorry when customers were cancelling orders, but as soon as the present dry spell ceases, we will push on with orders on hand. We would like customers to let us nave all the orders they have before the end of our linaiicial year, March 31st. and see if we cannot double the output.
In conversation with an old miner who has lived in Ross tor the las', .1(1 years he said that in all that time he has never seen Jones’ Creek dry. For the last three weeks this Channel, which runs at the hack of Boss 1 as been ‘‘hone dry” not a drop of water has it con Ini lied. Had some of our old .time miners known that this would have lieen dry for so long, methinks a few cradles would havq been at work as 1 am told that the last time this channel was worked men obtained as high as an ounce to the set. \ visit was paid to the works and the quality of building lime tested. The new face in the quarry is showing a splendid sample of stone, a large piece of which newly burnt, was placed in water. In a few moments it gave off steam and began to crumble away. One Director said to anotner: “Pick rt up and see if it. is hot” hut the latter was too wise. Just before Christmas three tons of building lime consigned to Greymnuth gave the Ross lime kiln a cheat, advertisement by showing its quality and calling out the Fire Brigade to sunpress "it. When we were building the carbonate of lime chamber some doubted if it was going to he a success, but once it was thoroughly dry it exceeded all our expectations. Fnder favourable circumstances we can now turn out carbonate and burnt lime up to tOO tons per week. YU we require is a regular stream of ordora to fcwp Wb ftttl mm StViffut.
