[Reuters Telegrams.] AUSTRALASIAN CRUISE ADDED YKD. WASHINGTON, February 13, White House announced that Mr Coolidgb lias given filial approval to the Australasian cruise which hitherto was tentative and subject to his sanction. The vessels will leave Honolulu on July Ist. DISABAI AM EXT. WASHINGTON, February 11. While making no official comment on London despatches, which suggest the British Government hopes a new Arms Conference will he called soon, preferably by the United States, it is understood that President Coolidge is following a waiting policy. He is watching develpments abroad carelully, and is prepared to act when he considets a move towards disarmament is opportune. He has not departed lrom his announced intention ot permitting the European Dowers to develop what can he accomplished towards disarmament, through the l.eague of Nations. II Britain should take the view that mote can he accomplished through a conference in any re-assessment of the situation undertaken l.y the United Stats.
new naval construction WASHINGTON 1 , Feb. 11
The appropriation ot fifty million dollars to carry out the naval construction policy recently authorised i> reqnested of Congress by the Budget Bureau. Fourteen million dollars will he applied to the completion of the aeroplane carriers “Saratonga” and “Lexington.” and three millions to new aeroplanes for these carriers: while nine millions will go to the repairs, of six battleships: two millions tor laying down two new cruisers; two millions to begin six new gunboats for use in Chinese waters.
