In v icw of the fact that all schools will remain closed until the first week in March because of the epidemic ol inlantile paralysis in the Dominion, the Education Department has sent a circular memorandum to all Education Boards, asking them to arrange for a refresher course for school-teachers who are thus unemployed. It is suggested that such a course should lie arranged in the different- centres for one week, commencing February 23rd. Tli. arrangements for these classes are being considered in Canterbury bv the senior inspector and the Board’s officers. It has been projicsed that some of the instruction should include •drawing. physical drill, singing, science, history and needlework. The Department suggests that the Boards should re:eif.e the assistance of instructors and headmasters, who could act.

At Knox Church, Rcefton, on Tuesday there took' place the wedding of Mr John T., son of the late Air and .Mrs William Bone, of Blacks Point, and Emma Pretoria, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs John Ale.Myn of Crampton Road. The bride was arrayed in apricot and lavender shot channelise satin, with georgette panels, and Imt to match, and carried a handsome bouquet of roses and carnations. The bridesmaids were .Miss Mavis Knight, of Westport, who wore pink crepe de chine with a blue early Victorian hat, and carried a bouquet of roses, African daisies and heather, and Aliss Olive Bone sister of the bridegroom, whose dress was of apricot crepe de chine, with apricot and silver hat to match ; her bouquet was oi French marigolds, gypsophilla, and everlasting daisies. Mr Jas AfcMyn. brother of the bride was the host man, and Mr R. Bone acted as groomsman. The church was nicely decorated b.v the girl friends of the bride. The Rev. J.
