Berkett, driver of the horse Imprint, against his disf|ualilication for six mouths by the Westport Trotting Club, for alleged inconsistent running was heard by the Xew Zealand Trotting Hoard this morning. t Mr T. M. Willonl. on behalf of Rerkett. called evidence by George Simpson, trotting reporter who said he believed that Imprint moved off slowly on the first day at Westport. In connection with the trotting appeals, and arising out of the Westport case, letters were received I root, the Greymoutb 'Trolling Club and the Inr.iigahua Trotting Club, and, in reply, it was decided to inform those clubs that their action in allowing Rerkett and Paseoe to take part in their meetings, after their disqualification In- the Westport Trotting Club was in contravention of the rules, as pointed out by the stipendiary steward, Mr Mahon, and that Mr Mahon's action he confirmed.

The principal feature of the business that occupied the New Zealand Trotting Association to-day was the hearing of a number of appeals against the decisions of 'Clubs. The lirst case dealt with was that arising out ol the ’Westport Trotting Club’s Suninwr .Meeting. Alter the conclusion of the Westport Trotting Meeting, Messrs Paseoe and Keating, owners of Some Wilkes, who finished second in the Westport Trotting Club Handicap on Herein her 27, entered a protest against the winner Imprint, for inconsistent running on the first day. in the Stockton Handicap. The protest wan upheld.
The Westport Club’s Judicial Committee had then considered Some W ilkes running in the 15tiller Handicap on tiie opening day, as compart'd with that in the race under review, and also disqualified him for the race. Norwood was then placed first, and Lone Hand amt Trixie Adair, second and third respectively. The Judicial Committee, in the evening decided to disqualify L. F. Horkett (driver of Imprint) and W. 1!. L. Paseoe (driver of Some Willies) ! for six months, anti F. Keating (part owner of Sonic Wilkes) was lined £o for impertinence to the Committee. Paseoe and ISerkett appealed against their disqualification, and the eases had been part heard at a meeting of the lioord in Wellington on January 12. After further evidence had been heard to-day. the Hoard decided that the appeals' of Berkett and Paseoe should be dismissed, and the action of the Club endorsed. An order was made that costs amountto £33 10s incidental to the detcrmCiitm of the appeal, should he paid In- the appellants. The line imposed on F. Keating for impertinence was endorsed. The Westport Trotting Club was requested "to take action regarding C’ur-,-oil's interest in the horse. Impnnt. . UU I Keating’s interest in the horse Some Wilkes.
