LATE LOCALS.
The Japanese arc loud o! hata' ig. in Tokio there arc eight hundred , llhlie bathhouses, in many of which a person can obtain a bath, hot or cold, for a sum equal to one cent. Some of the visiting howlers left last evening and a number this moining. A further contingent are leaving by the afternoon train, while some are staying for a day or two in the district. All expressed deep appreciation at their reception and pleasure in the general arrangements lor the tournament. It is something unique to have local whitebait (that has not been canned) at this season of the year. During the past season, one enterprising local restaurant proprietor saw lit to .‘-end whitebait to the Christchurch freezing wo.ks so that their patrons could have whitebait out of season. A sample has l )o£ .|i secured and found quite equal to the fresh halt. A supply is arriving in Hokitika to-night and will |,o pn.curnble at The Rendezvous, Revel 1 Street.
