ARAHUBA FAT STOCK SALE

JEFFRIES AND CO’S REPORT. At yesterday’s fixture at the above yards 61 head of cattle and 120 fat sheep were entered. The usual buyers were in attendance but the competition was restricted to light finished quality cattle which if the present weather continues will be the class of beef mostly enquired for. Prices ruled from .‘lds to -10-s per hundred for finished steers, medium sorts 33s to 355. Good heifer beef ranged from 31s to 37s 6d, medium quality 30s to 335. There was a good many pens of cow beef, prime quality selling as high its 31s, while unfinished and plain sorts ranged from Cl to 30s per hundred. Sheep which were apparently required did not- meet with the owners idea of values and a pen of 62 wethers were passed at 37s and a pen of 5-1 very fine ewes were passed at 355. Messrs AY. HOUSTON AND CO. REPORT. M. Houston and Co. report:—At the above sale yesterday our entry consisted of 85 Lit sheep and lambs, and 40 head of fat cattle. There was a good attendance of buyers and competition was keen for all finished lines, at prices on n par with those of' the last ‘sale. The hulk of the entry comprised light and unfinished cattle, with a good proportion of aged cows. AYell finished ox and heifer beef made to 35s per hundred. medium from 27s (id to 325, and cow beet I"i'*om 20s id 27s Cd. Eat sheep ami lambs .sold well at current rates.
